A day tour in the desert starting from the golden city of Jaisalmer. Today from the Jaisalmer city we will drive to the Tanot Mata temple, Longewala war memorial and the border post with Pakistan. For visiting the international border manned by the border security force we need to get the NOC from the BSF office this NOC can be sourced from the BSF office situated at Tanot Mata Mandir. You need an identity card which can be your Indian driving license / Adhar card / Passport. The BSF personal will take your identity card and will issue you a permission card which again will be checked multiple times while you go to the border post. These three sites are situated around 150 kms from the Jaisalmer city a, small villages fall on this highway area of Jaislamer.
Sam Sand Dunes
Located around 40 km from Jaisalmer city, Sam sand Dunes is an offbeat natural tourist attraction that is one of the best places to visit near Jaisalmer. These dunes sit over undulating heaps of golden sand stretching for around two kilometers along the border of the Jaisalmer Desert National Park. They are thirty to sixty meters tall, and you can often see ripples over here caused by wind. You can enjoy many cultural shows, musical nights, and campfires around the region of the dunes.
Kuldhara Village
This is a renowned historical site that was established in the thirteenth century and is considered to be one of the best places to Visit Near Jaisalmer. It was once a prosperous village where Paliwal Brahmins resided, but now all the cottages and huts of the village are in ruins.The tourists are preferred to visit this village only during daylight due to the rumors of being a Ghost town. Dusty roads with intermittent rows of sandstone walls, mud houses, and a temple stand as a living testimony of the sad history of this village.
Tanot Temple
Nestled in the village of Tanot in Jaisalmer, this temple is a blend of religion, culture, and historical legends and is considered to be one of the best places to visit near Jaisalmer. Khaba Fort
Dating back to the thirteenth century, Khaba Fort is set amid a barren village that was once populated by Paliwal Brahmins. This ruined citadel exhibits Paliwal architecture and is frequented by the tourists who wish to unearth its history and mysteries that haunt the village. It is one of the most renowned places to visit near Jaisalmer as you can see the entire Kuldhara village and its nearby areas from the top of this fort.
Bada Bagh
Commissioned by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 16th-century, Bada Bagh is one of the best places to visit near Jaisalmer. This garden complex is located around six kilometers north of Jaisalmer and has a dramatic setting. It has a set of royal cenotaphs constructed by the rulers of the Jaisalmer State in the 19th, 18th, and early 20th centuries. The chhatris located here appear like a beautiful mirage in the desert as they are of the same color as the beautiful landscape around them. Unlike their name, they don't have a garden, and the prominent attraction here is the dome-like sandstone structures.
Longewala War Memorial
This is a war equipment exhibition located at the site of the Battle of Longewala that took place between the Pak Army and the Indian Army in 1971. This memorial cum open-air museum is maintained by the Indian Army. It is very well organized, with two captured Pak tanks and an array of information boards. You can also witness here tunnels, bunkers, and several other war-related items. It has been built to recount the moments of bravery and valor of the Indian armed forces soldiers at this very site.
